Following the Junior World Championships held a few days ago, Bardonecchia hosted the penultimate round of the World Cup. The races took place against a backdrop of superb technique and adrenaline, confirming the Piedmontese resort as the international capital of free-heel skiing.
Classic Race Results – 16 March 2026
Following yesterday’s Parallel Sprint event, the Classic event is considered the most comprehensive and demanding, combining speed, endurance and technical precision in both the jump and cross-country sections. The competition took place on the historic and renowned Fisi50 slope at Colomion.
Men: victory went to Switzerland’s Nicolas Michel, who consolidated his position at the top. Also on the podium were France’s Charly Petex (2nd) and Switzerland’s Romain Beney (3rd).
Women: the race saw victory for Norway’s Goril Strom Eriksen, followed by France’s Camille Bourbon and Augustine Carliez.
Italian performances
South Tyrolean Raphael Mahlknecht proved to be the best Italian in the race, securing a solid top-10 finish (7th place), following his excellent performance in yesterday’s Parallel Sprint.
This brings to a close an intense and spectacular fortnight entirely dedicated to Telemark: from the young talents of the Junior World Championships to the World Cup stars, Bardonecchia has been the beating heart of Telemark skiing, on its LaStampa and Fisi50 slopes.
But even though the races are over, the ski season here is still in full swing: the slopes in the resort are in perfect condition and covered in snow, ready to welcome all skiers keen to enjoy the last great runs of the season.
